Lego!

Oh, I already included obj. 3MF is a new standard, so that probably won't help. STL, OBJ & PLY are my other choices...

In gallery there's an icon to the left above the picture [Image: info.png] - if you click on that icon, then underneath the filmstrip, there'll be a BB-Code box.  Copy that & paste it in the post - it works a little better if you paste it in the view-source mode, but it'll still work.

You should do a build log Smile

I noticed the greebles have space in the corners. I expected them to fit with each other in the corners, I'm curious why they aren't? (You have a diagonal block in between them)

Savage was asking about Lego dimensions, so I pulled this photo back up for context.  Here I've overlaid a screenshot of the Lego model on top of the actual droid photo.  I have found a few errors in the hard-to-see parts of my build, however the overall dimensions are correct (I have different heights in a few spots in the corners).

Anyhoo, Lego bricks are basically 8mm per stud.  So the front of one edge, 61 studs, is 488 mm long.  Basically, where you see my overlay from the left to the right is 488 mm (maybe 480, I've found a small error).

It's worth noting that the original molds were kind of like rectangles chopped off @ 45 degrees (viewed from the top), then glued together into a square shape.  So the sides to the right and left of the view above stick out an additional 4 studs or 32 mm per side.  (the bottom of the corners go a tiny bit further).  (My error is that the right of the photo already has one of those 4 studs in the overlay above, so only 24mm more on that side).  So, at the top of that image, we have to get a total of 544mm across - unless maybe the top was shaved down some.  (In my photos, we can see the uppermost layer of brick, but we can't tell "how deep" that brick is.  Is it a full brick?  Or was it trimmed?)

An error in the corner was pointed out to me, I'm going to have to double check the corners. My model may be one stud (8mm) too wide.

After some double checking, my basic size for the Lego bottom seems about right.  I'm pretty sure that it is 69 studs across, so 552mm across inside the white skirt about 20mm above the cutout on the skirt.

So, the droid should be 552mm wide at the line above where I added the placement of the inner bricks.  Since we know the droid is ~25 5/8" wide at the bottom of the skirt, that seems about right - 4" wider at the bottom than my funny line.

The thumb in the below photo is about on the Lego level with the skirt edge.  (because of the perspective and flash that isn't obvious, the shadow is way higher than we can normally see - revealing the top of the last row of bricks, this is the only photo I have where we can see that far into it.).

We can see from there that there's a decent gap to the edge of the skirt - which fits with it needing space for 2 bricks above that level.  Of course the topmost brick may not be complete, they could have either not filled the mold completely, or filed off the corner - but the measurements fit.

Here a few picture that will explain my approach. There is one picture showing the underside with dummy-caster-wheel, but it also shows the "spring" idea from that side.

And as you see, I haven't cut the board at this stage either.

I'm not sure how to link to my gallery here on .net, can I do that instead of linking to each picture?

A bit delayed, but http://www.rebeldroids.net/gallery/thumb...p?album=70 is the gallery these are in Smile

I took a pretty long break from working on my H015, but it's nice to see that you are making great progress!

Us too, Lara's hip surgeries and life interfered.  We were going pretty fast in February, but then it just stalled all summer Sad
