Savage was asking about Lego dimensions, so I pulled this photo back up for context. Here I've overlaid a screenshot of the Lego model on top of the actual droid photo. I have found a few errors in the hard-to-see parts of my build, however the overall dimensions are correct (I have different heights in a few spots in the corners).
Anyhoo, Lego bricks are basically 8mm per stud. So the front of one edge, 61 studs, is 488 mm long. Basically, where you see my overlay from the left to the right is 488 mm (maybe 480, I've found a small error).
It's worth noting that the original molds were kind of like rectangles chopped off @ 45 degrees (viewed from the top), then glued together into a square shape. So the sides to the right and left of the view above stick out an additional 4 studs or 32 mm per side. (the bottom of the corners go a tiny bit further). (My error is that the right of the photo already has one of those 4 studs in the overlay above, so only 24mm more on that side). So, at the top of that image, we have to get a total of 544mm across - unless maybe the top was shaved down some. (In my photos, we can see the uppermost layer of brick, but we can't tell "how deep" that brick is. Is it a full brick? Or was it trimmed?)
