Lego!
#31
In case it wasn't clear, here's how four of the bottom sections are supposed to fit:

My earlier line sketch missed the fact that the corners kind of poke out toward the faux wheels.  So the assembly of 4 sections is actually a little wider than an individual section.

I put a black circle in the corner to represent the ball, but it isn't accurate.

Also they go up under the skirt a bit, top might need shaved if there isn't room.

I expect the edges to be about 1cm inside of the outside edge (or about a lego brick width) on the bottom. I'm not quite sure, but there's a lip.

Question time:
Is your Lego skirt designed to fit savages blueprint?

I mentioned before that Savage's skirt is about 2" too small. My first Lego attempt was to match the "real" Lego bits as well as possible, however I expect they need adjustment. I can remove some bits and shrink the model, however yours is the first one to test-fit it, so we'll have to adjust that one.

Also, on the height, probably less critical, however I "assumed" that the top brick I could see on Oliver's original was an entire brick. It is possible that he shaved off the corner to better fit within the angled skirt or something, so we may need to do something there as well.

I'll be adjusting my model to the correct width.
There are some other bits I need to look at too.
However it's Lego related to do with the skirt, but I'll talk more about that in a few days time.
Due to further information creeping out there may be a need to change some bits (though you won't be able to model them in Lego... More to do with how it actually fits inside)

More information is always welcome Smile

Note that even with a "correct width" skirt there could be issues with the fit. Where it meets the skirt is impossible to see in the photos.

It's cut inside at 45degrees .

There, I've said it. Lol.

Where the "brick" hits the skirt?   I'd been wondering about that.

Is it possible to share the files in STEP or IGES? I would like to modify them and remove material for the wheels. On my picture you can see that I kind of ugly simply cut away some material, but this can be done better if adjusted in the CAD before printing.

Hmm, I'll see what I can do. I can probably import the STL into 3D Builder and then export it into obj or something. I didn't add the voids because they were horribly inconsistent on the screen droid and I wasn't sure how they were going to line up in builds.

Alternatively, if you tell me where the holes need to be I could add them to the STL.

I see you've done the hingy bottom, how's that secured?

We're trying to figure the void step out for Lego too.... thinking about moving the wheels inboard a bit to clear the Lego.

Hello.

Here a few picture that will explain my approach. There is one picture showing the underside with dummy-caster-wheel, but it also shows the "spring" idea from that side.

And as you see, I haven't cut the board at this stage either.

I'm not sure how to link to my gallery here on .net, can I do that instead of linking to each picture?
