BB-8 is one of the most popular new droids. Technically an "Astromech", but builder sites have split between the traditional Astromech and BB Droids.

Some of the builders starting to figure out BB-8 did so here and at Astromech.net, so you will find some of the original discussionof BB-8 here & there.
Nowadays, BB-8 builders hang out at the BB-8 Builders Club forum. There's tons of great information there.
For discussion there's a fairly active BB-8 Builders Group on Facebook as well.
