How do we keep the ball clean?

Have you looked at the bottom of an Astromech's feet?

Seems like a ball rolling around a floor is gonna get yicky really fast.

Yeah. I don't think there's any reasonable way to keep the ball clean. This'll be one filthy little droid.

I also really want to see . .. more of it. We don't know what the back side of the dome looks like, we don't know what the body looks like without horrible motion blur . . . I need more data!

Maybe a brush could be installed along the inside edge of the dome to clean the ball as it rolls.

Hmm, my thinking would sort of accidentally do that, I was thinking something soft and fuzzy to rest the dome on while attached with magnets. One of my concerns was what happens when the soft & fuzzy whatever gets dirty and starts scratching the ball?
