WED Treadwell Motor System

I'm not sure if there are specifics for a Treadwell.  I, personally, would hook up two "scooter" motors running @ 12 volts, one to each track.  Presumably they would need to be geared down a little.  Since I used chains on Artoo's feet, I might do that.  How big at Treadwell's wheels?  Similar gear ratio might be appropriate.

I'd use a cheap transmitter that can do V-tail, and hook it to a couple Pololu simple motor controllers.  IIRC the motor controllers have a regulator, so you could use one (not both) to power the receiver (to bump it down from 12V).  Or you could use a separate receiver.

thank you very much for this response! this is the most information about the treadwell i've ever gotten, but i still have a few questions. would i hook up 2 pololu controllers together, with them both connecting to a v tail transmitter, then have a receiver connected to 12v batteries and the two motors (which would probably be geared down with a 4/1 gearbox ) and have the batteries connected to the motors as well? i'm sorry for all the questions, i have no problem building things, i'm relatively good, but i am absolutely clueless with wiring and electronics, i thank you very much for your help again. thanks for all responses
