Mini update:
Sabertooth speed controller ordered.
Motors ordered.
Cable ordered.
Going to be machining up my own drive wheel axle’s tomorrow in work.
Probably try to machine up some couplers to.
Once I’ve got all the wheels sorted, I’ll make a start on the treads.

Finally bit the bullet and took the cut(s)….
This detail had been bugging me for missing it during the build.

Blog update 23:
https://r5-d4astromechdroid.blogspot.com...3.html?m=1
Well busy week & got a lot done.
Machined up axles.
Finished machining the brass bushes.
Machined up first of the motor couplers, and later, tested to see if it (motor) had enough torque for the job!
Body work, the two lower angles needed body filler.
3D modelled and printed the two front axle cover plates and also the inner shaft location blocks.
So here’s the link to the testing of the motor.
I had to hold the motor as it didn’t have a location bracket, it’s in the post.

It's always cool to see them move. What sort of motors were you testing?
Was it enough torque?

It did well for only one motor lol . Obviously not tried it in tank mode, but will do once second motor arrives. Not after speed (as it’s not required), just thought I’d try it out (for size). Inexpensive item, may get two more and convert to four wheel drive

That looks an awful lot like a bag motor with a gearbox on it. we've used a lot of them in the past

Thanks Paul, I had been putting it of for months as didn’t want to mess it up.
I worry sometimes about ‘perfection’ but then remember that it doesn’t have to be perfect. …..just close enough
