Hello!
I lost the link to this site but just recently rediscovered it, so I wanted to share with you my build blog of my medical assistant droid, FX-7. I built an R2, but wanted to build something a bit more obscure.
It's still a work in progress, as you can see, and have been working my way down from the top.
I used reference photos from the Smithsonian exhibit as well as one schematic online as a starting point. I brought them into my 3D program and used them to
build the basic shapes fro each section, then scaled to size. The completed droid will stand 5'10" tall or so.

Thanks for looking!

That's really cool. I don't think I've seen a build of one of these before yours. Are you going to fill the arm bays with arms?

Yes, I just got started with designing a prototype arm, and hope to get the materials this weekend to start making them.
I am trying to get him mostly finished for a MakerFaire in September.

Very nice. I've always had a soft spot for FX-7, more so than 2-1B. In fact, even as a child in the 70s, it was a general rule that i always favored the non anthropomorphic droids.
I'd probably have gravitated to an FX-7 build at some point if i thought he would be at all practical for me to store or transport

My God! Your build is AWESOME! I have never run into anyone else who built and FX-7 and yours looks amazing!
I am going to have to dive deeper into your build blog when I have the time.
Thanks for sharing!

Finally got a chance to update my FX-7 blog. Despite my broken hand, I was able to get FX-7 mostly completed for the Makerfaire in September. I hope to add some arduino-controlled movement to the head, hand and some of the bottom arms, as well as more detail to the head.
