I wanted a table, so I added a table plugin.  If you reply or make a new thread, there's now a table button to the left under the smilies.  That has a little wizard, but basically it just makes some tables code that looks like HTML tables except with [] instead of <>.

I've found posts with that kind of table are *way* easier to edit in the "view source" mode - click on the note icon in the top-right when composing the post.
