Laying out a bunch of parts (or products or whatever) in a pleasing and organized fashion before beginning work, usually in parallel or at right angles, more or less. You see it a lot in advertising where there'll be a photograph of a bunch of tools laid out at right angles. My usage is a bit tongue-in-cheek, because I had all of five sections of styrene, which makes it highly unnecessary.
