Hi all, I am Markus from Louisiana. During 2015 I started thinking about building robots, motivated by a large number of YouTube videos of robots based on a two-wheel drive plus an ultrasonic sensor, and the idea of getting into Arduino programming. Since I wanted my robot to be more visually appealing, I decided to start with an astromech droid roughly based on R2-D2 - and I named him R3-B9. R3-B9 is made of cardboard and wood, and roughly half the size of his cousin R2-D2. His progress is documented on my blog https://mynewrobot.wordpress.com and his first steps are documented in this video.
Now my son wants me to build him a mousedroid, and in my initial research I found the Yahoo group and also rebeldroids.com. We will post the progress on the blog https://mousedroid.wordpress.com. The first step is already made: At a thrift store we found a RC car (New Bright, 1:15 scale) for $3.50. Based on this, we plan to build the mouse droid at approx. 83% of the original size. The cardboard in the attached image corresponds to the outer edge of the mouse droid.
