A thread asking about IG-88 was started on astromech, so I created this subforum.  I know this is a unique droid that has a small but passionate following, so hopefully we can collect some info.

Astromech thread is here: http://astromech.net/forums/showthread.p...-Need-help!

And that pointed to an RPF thread here: http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=2...light=IG88

As I am currently working on building IG-88, a very slow process but in the works, I will try and start posting here and there what I can.

And welcome to the group. We'll all help out any way we can, including collecting reference, etc. Just let us know how we can help Smile

Thank you so much! I really appreciate being invited to this. I am glad to be part of it.
Currently- areas that I am on a look out for include (this is pictures and or measurements): his chest, his arms, and his torso. The site listed above is probably one of the most detailed I have seen so far. Its amazing how very few and vague people are in regards to the measurements used. I have a rough idea of what I want as he will be used as a prop for 501st events. But measurements would help me size him consistently.

I know that this is already known information, however I thought it might be useful to start collecting some of it up into one, central location.

I thought this article was fun and informative:

this is an excellent build thread that may help:

http://www.thedentedhelmet.com/f68/ig88-45547/

I found these while looking for dimensions on the head. It's a known part, so if we can find the dimensions of the head we can extrapolate the rest of the dimensions of the droid from there.

Next thing I found was this thread on the RPF, which a couple of posts in gives us . . .  the height of his head!

http://www.therpf.com/showthread.php?t=27381

Looks like the head is slightly taller than 24 inches. (my measurements put it at half an inch longer)

so we should be able to figure the rest out without too much trouble, within a certain margin of error.

wookiepedia says he's 1.96 meters tall (six five and an eighth, give or take)

I actually have a replica already of his head that was casting of that exact Jet engine. I was able to find someone who could do that for me. I will have to measure it when I am off from work and post it.

Here is what I have for his head so far. His paint job is only on to give me an idea of what to go for. I will obviously work in more detail later and hopefully get some lights inside his head if I can find someone to help me in that department. I will also note that I deliberately did do his head a little differently then most. If you look at the metal rings/scanners? They actually are backwards as I wanted a non-sharp edge on the outside to help keep from poking people as well as it makes it less likely to catch. It also is more accurate to one of the figures I have. The kotoykotobukiya version of IG-88.

Also just a heads up as I likely will slip into it at some point or another- I call IG-88 "Iggy" sorta my name for this guy that I am building.

I did measure his length and so far it is around 22 in long. I did actually cut a little of his head off as it would have made him way too big to look accurate (based on how it would look next to a Vader). Also there wasnt enough room to get inside of his head and it needed to be removed. I still have the lower piece in case I figure a way to put his head on a sorta ball and socket style so his head can move.
