GOUD-4 mouse droid - ‘Solo’ film
#1
Blog link: https://goud4mousedroid.blogspot.com

Started this project a few years back before it got shelved. Then a new lease of life began this year with being able to 3D print parts needed and some free wood

Posted #8 Blog updates so far, also a thread on the mouse droid forum
Here’s some progress picture so far:

Car is a Schumacher SST.....model not 100% sure lol.

Lower wood sections glued together with PVA glue. These will be strengthened later with fibreglass.

Using the ‘draft’ plans, I drew up in CAD the front panel. After a few changes, I came up with this...
The grey ring is a push fit to hold a cabochon in place. I’ll probably draw up a version that has a solid 3D dome included. The filler primer is a must

Once sanded smooth, the ‘wet gloss effect’ from spraying Matt black tho looks impressive.
Once (almost) dried it still looked good.

Re-fitted the cabochon and the sprayed retaining ring.

Next up is the frame and shell.

Few more updates, with a few more to come.

Electrical work:
Starting firstly with adding some proper connectors for the motor and speed controller, as they were previously just terminal blocks.
Soldered on some XT60's and also converted the battery to these types as well. https://goud4mousedroid.blogspot.com/202...onics.html

Belt tensioner:
Next up was designing and 3D printing parts for a belt tensioner set up. https://goud4mousedroid.blogspot.com/202...ystem.html

I started on cutting out the wheel arches on the lower body section and have designed and 3D printed some test mounting brackets, to be able to locate and secure the main body with.

It’s been a fun & busy week (as well as HOT ).
Started on the upper body build, all wood of course lol. Had some issues tho with scale of plans, should of checked but one thing and another, and assumptions, meant I had to adjust the plans to suit. Also realised that the plans could do with additional info like this picture, scale of transmitter sat on the top channel, shows how high the sides are.

Back to the build…
Started with the base structure.
Then added the first side panel, PVA glue and then fibre mat with resin to strengthen the joints.

The car support brackets were bolted to the frame (above picture)

Holoprojector panel secured temporary in place to help with spacing.
The central section was added.

Now on the last section.
This is a solid build….lol I know I replaced the springs, and the car itself is heavy…just have to see how it manages once complete.

Well I have been busy theses last few weeks with woodworking and 3D printing.

The main ‘box’ is now all together, and strengthened with fibre/resin matting (& PVA glue). Bought some p38 body filler and applied it to edges and exposed rough cut pieces of the lower frame. First coat of primer will reveal any additional filling.

Next up was the 3D printing of the RC to body supports. They needed height adjusting to bring the main body down more.

More to come plus pictures.

And as promised, pictures below.
First off, the new battery holder for the car:
I’ve posted these up on my Thingiverse page as well

Next up, for a bit of fun at events, a rear number plate

Blog link: https://goud4mousedroid.blogspot.com/202...d.html?m=1

Now onto the real work.
I glued on the lower skirt, and then added strengthening supports along with fibre matting and resin.

As mentioned before, I’ve been applying P38 body filler to edges and gaps to smooth everything. Sanding then follows, with more filler where needed.

A few more additional wood panel details added to the rear. And then using the P38, areas around the top panel, which I’ve decided can be removable, to fill in the uneven cut lines.
Also, when glueing the second side piece, I didn’t have a spacer block so it unfortunately curved. This could of been rectified by trimming the top panel, but then you would notice the curve more due to the additional straight edge panel fitted to it. Therefore I used P38 to level the side panel to the top on. Using masking tape to prevent adhesion to parts not requiring it.
