FWIW, you'll find other BB-8 discussion in a bajillion places.  There's some on astromech.net, but now there's also bb8builders.club, which is where most of the activity is happening.  Additionally there's a facebook group that's still pretty active, though everyone is being encouraged to move to the forum.
