Recommended RC Transmitter/Receiver? - NemesisDroid - 11-01-2014

I'm gearing back up to work on my MSE. One of the things I still need to get is an RC transmitter. I'm guessing any simple one will do, but I was looking at the gun styles. Any pros/cons for controlling your mouse droid? I will want to be able to race him at Celebration.

p.s. I will start a build log Big Grin

Hey Nemesis,

I used a very cheap four channel, but I think the gun style transmitters would work very well. I think I read somewhere on the RPF that some one was using that style of transmitter to incorporate into a storm trooper gun. That way they could have the mouse droid running around near them and conceal the transmitter.

Unfortunately I have no experience with the gun style transmitters, so I can't really offer anything but an opinion. I've just got a Turnigy 9X that I use for pretty much everything.
However, I think it sounds like a great idea. I've seen them used for high speed track cars . . . come to think of it, I've even got one somewhere around here in a box. I should track it down and see if I can get it working..

Thanks, guys. I'll go with the gun style and we'll see how it goes.

I bought a cheap VEX controller on ebay for about $40. It's simple to use and it was cheap. I use an expensive Futaba 2.4ghz digital for R2-AL. I, too, don't know anything about gun style transmitters, I'm assuming and hoping it's not a real gun. LOL

No, not a real gun Smile

We got a cheap turnigy 6ch. But it's airplane style, not gun style, which is OK for MCK-Y

Tried both regular RC and "gun style". The gun style is much better in my opinion to accurately control a car-like thing (my MSE is fast...).

I picked up a 4 channel futaba new from tower hobbies for around a hundred bucks.

Thanks for the input! I've ordered a Flysky 3 channel gun style.
